So something really messed up happened over the weekend. I thought I was flirting with someone legit on a dating app, but they turned out to be a scammer. They got a little bit of info from me and now they’re claiming they’ll leak fake stuff to my school unless I send them money. I’m honestly freaking out a bit. I came across this article: https://www.technology.org/2025/05/14/preventing-online-blackmail-safety-tips-for-internet-users/, which had some tips, but I’m still unsure—should I go to the campus police? Has anyone been through something similar and made it out okay?

Sorry you’re going through that, man. Scammers like that are pros at creating panic. Definitely don’t pay them or keep the convo going. The article you read gives solid steps—especially about preserving all messages and reporting to the platform and authorities.
